A prayer of Thanksgiving
By Rev. Dr. Howard S. Russell, CHM President & CEO
Here is my Thanksgiving prayer for you, in the form of a letter to our Lord.
Dear Father in Heaven,
Thank you, on behalf of every member of the Christian Healthcare Ministries staff, for the privilege of allowing us to serve in a ministry devoted to glorifying You by serving Your people.
We know that every believer has an individual role and outreach in the Kingdom of God, but not every Christian has the opportunity to work in a ministry-related vocation. Each day is an opportunity for us to touch the lives of hundreds—if not thousands—of Your followers who have put their confidence in us to fulfill Your direction given to believers in Galatians by the Apostle Paul: “Carry each other’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
We thank You for the growth CHM is experiencing because it enables an ever-larger number of Christians to demonstrate to the 21st-century world the first century lesson in the Book of Acts, which gives us the example of how the early believers shared to meet each other’s needs.
We pray for every member experiencing a health issue, and we pray for their families. We pray that You will replace fear with peace; anxiety, with calm; and uncertainty with confidence in Your Word, Your love, and Your plan.
We don’t know why some people are healed and others are not, why evil people sometimes seem to prosper, or why Your children experience pain. But we know that this is a fallen world and that we’re here only for a brief time. We know—above and beyond all that we may encounter in this life—that You love us as Your children, and that all things work together for good to those who love You.
Thank you for our Board of Directors, all of whom are Your servants and who come alongside this ministry with a servant’s heart. Thank you for our employees, for their work, their prayers for our members, and their joy as they dispel members’ concerns about cost issues and enable our members to concentrate on their health.
We love You, thank You, and pray for a Happy Thanksgiving for everyone who has called upon your name for salvation, and for everyone who allows us to serve You by serving them. I ask all of this in the name of Jesus, your only begotten Son.
